LET US FIRST EXAMINE HOW SOME PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE REACTED TO THE LORD'S TEACHING
A. We learn from Luke 4:16-29 that the people in Nazareth reacted positively and negatively to the Lord's Word. B. According to Luke 4:30-32, the people in Capernaum "were astonished at His doctrine." C. The people by Galilee "pressed upon Him to hear the Word of God" (Luke 5:1). D. Publicans and sinners drew near to Jesus to hear Him (Luke 15:1). E. Mark 12:37 states that "the common people heard Him gladly." F. These examples reveal various reactions to the Lord's teaching; however, . . . II. 9 SPECIAL BLESSINGS ARE AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO LET THE LORD'S WORD DWELL IN THEM RICHLY IN ALL WISDOM; INCLUDING:
A. "increasing our knowledge of Christ" (2 Peter 3:18; John 5:29) B. "knowing the truth that will make us free" (John 8:31-32) C. "having Christ and the Father abide with us" (John 14:23) D. "having our prayers answered" (John 15:7) E. "building us up" (Acts 20:32) F. "increasing our faith" (Romans 10:17) G. "equipping us completely to do God's will" (2 Timothy 3:16-17) H. "saving our souls" (James 1:21) I. "spiritual growth" (1 Peter 2:2). Conclusion:
