Those Who Receive the Lord's Word Properly Will Be Blessed
(Luke 4:16-32)

​Introduction:

         1. This morning: "Let us receive the Lord's Word properly."
         2. According to John 12:47-50, this is a requirement for the saved.
         3. In our lesson we are pointing out a number of blessings available to those who properly receive the
             Lord's Word.
         4. Before we consider 9 special blessings, . . .

Discussion:

I.           LET  US  FIRST  EXAMINE  HOW  SOME  PEOPLE  IN  THE  BIBLE  REACTED  TO  THE  LORD'S
             TEACHING


         A. The people in Nazareth reacted positively and negatively (Luke 4:16-29).
         B. The people in Capernaum "were astonished at His doctrine" (Luke 4:30-32).
         C. The people by Galilee "pressed upon Him to hear the Word of God" (Luke 5:1).
         D. Publicans and sinners drew near to Jesus to hear Him (Luke 15:1).
         E. "The common people hear Him gladly" (Mark 12:37).
         F. These examples show how people reacted differently to the Lord's teaching; however, . . .

II.          9  SPECIAL  BLESSINGS  ARE  AVAILABLE  TO  THOSE  WHO  RECEIVE  THE  LORD'S  WORD
             PROPERLY


         A. "Increasing our knowledge of Christ" (2 Peter 3:18; John 5:39)
         B. "Knowing the truth that will make us free" (John 8:31-32)
         C. "Having Christ and the Father abide with us" (John 14:23)
         D. "Having our prayers answered" (John 15:7)
         E. "Building us up" (Acts 20:32)
         F. "Increasing our faith" (Romans 10:17)
         G. "Equipping us completely to do God's will" (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
         H. "Saving our souls" (James 1:21)
         I. "Spiritual growth" (1 Peter 2:2)

Conclusion:

         1. Today we have studied a number of passages that relate a very important lesson.
         2. "Let us receive the Lord's Word properly."
