Keeping Ourselves unspotted from the world
(Lesson 46)

Introduction:

         1. We learn from James 1:27 that "pure and undefiled religion before God" includes "keeping ourselves
             unspotted from the world."
         2. Thankfully, God has revealed information in His Word that will help us to remain free from the world's
             spots.
         3. In this lesson we are concentrating on the instructions that are recorded in Romans 12-13.
         4. Before we study these instructions, . . .

Discussion:

I.           LET  US  FIRST  OBSERVE  HOW  WE  ARE  MADE  FREE  FROM  SIN

         A. We are made free from sin when we obey the Gospel (Romans 6:1-7).
         B. Freedom from sin is a cause for thanksgiving (Romans 6:17-18).
         C. We are to remain free from sin [unspotted from the world] (Romans 6:19-22).

II.          LET  US  OBSERVE  FROM  ROMANS  12-13  HOW  TO  REMAIN  FREE  FROM  SIN

         A. Romans 12
             1. (vs.1) We are to present ourselves as proper sacrifices to God.
             2. (vs.2) Rather than be conformed to this world we are to be transformed.
             3. (vs.3-8) We must use our God-given talents to fulfill our responsibilities.
             4. (vs.9-21) We must fulfill our responsibilities to other people.
         B. Romans 13
             1. (vs.1-7) We must fulfill our civil responsibilities.
             2. (vs.8-10) We must practice the second commandment.
             3. (vs.11-14) We must maintain a sense of urgency about keeping ourselves unspotted from the world.
