The Lord's Prayers Teach Us How to Pray
(Luke 11:1)

Introduction:

         1. This morning we emphasized the principle that "men ought always to pray, and not to faint" (Luke 18:1).
         2. This evening we are basing our lesson on the request that one of the Lord's disciples made in Luke 11:1:
             "Lord, teach us to pray."
         3. We are examining a number of occasions when Jesus prayed.
         4. This brings us to the theme of our study -- "the Lord's prayers teach us how to pray."

Discussion:

I.           JESUS  PRAYED  WHEN  SPECIAL  EXENTS  OCCURRED

         A. He prayed at His baptism (Luke 3:21-22).
         B. He prayed at His transfiguration (Luke 9:28-29).

II.          (LUKE  5:15-16)  JESUS  PRAYED  IN  SECLUSION  AFTER  DOING  A  GREAT  WORK  (MATTHEW  6:6)

III.         (LUKE  6:12-13)  JESUS  PRAYED  BEFORE  MAKING  AN  IMPORTANT  DECISION

IV.         (LUKE  22:31-32)  JESUS  PRAYED  FOR  PETER

V.          (LUKE  22:39-46)  JESUS  PRAYED  BEFORE  HE  FACED  HIS  GREAT  TRIAL

VI.         (LUKE  23:34)  JESUS  PRAYED  WHILE  RECEIVING  CRUEL  TREATMENT  (MATTHEW  5:43-48)

VII.        (LUKE  23:46)  JESUS  PRAYED  WHEN  HIS  LIFE  ENDED

Conclusion:

         1. Prayer is a special privilege for God's children.
         2. Let us take advantage of this great blessing as the Lord taught us through His prayers.
