let us consider 3 great lessons
(2 Timothy 2:19)

Introduction:

         1. Bible students are continually amazed at the amount of information revealed in each verse of Scripture.
         2. This lesson is a study of the information presented in 2 Timothy 2:19.
         3. As we study this verse, "let us consider 3 great lessons."

Discussion:

I.           THE  FIRST  LESSON  RELATES  TO  GOD'S  FAITHFULNESS

         A. This verse begins with "nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure."
         B. Throughout the Bible, God's faithfulness is emphasized.
             1. Psalm 36:5; 119:90
             2. Lamentations 3:22-23
             3. 1 Corinthians 1:9; 10:13
             4. 2 Thessalonians 3:3
             5. Hebrews 10:23
         C. The sure standing of God's foundation helps us to appreciate the next lesson.

II.          THE  SECOND  LESSON  RELATES  TO  GOD'S  RELATIONSHIP  WITH  HIS  PEOPLE

         A. Our verse continues by stating, "The Lord knoweth them that are His."
         B. Throughout the Bible we see that "the Lord has a special relationship with His people."
             1. Nahum 1:7
             2. John 10:14, 27-28
             3. 1 Peter 5:6-7, 10
             4. Symbolic language is sometimes used to identify the Lord's people.
                 a. Ezekiel 9:4
                 b. Revelation 7:1-4; 14:1; 22:1-4
         C. To maintain a relationship with the Lord, we must fulfill our responsibilities.

III.         THE  THIRD  LESSON  RELATES  TO  A  RESPONSIBILITY  THE  LORD  HAS  GIVEN  TO  HIS  PEOPLE

         A. Our verse says, "Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
         B. Throughout the Bible the Lord's people are taught to strive to rise above sin.
             1. Psalm 32:1-2; 119:1-3
             2. John 8:11
             3. Romans 6:17-23
             4. 1 John 1:5-7

Conclusion:

         1. We have considered 3 great lessons from 2 Timothy 2:19.
             a. "The foundation of the Lord standeth sure."
             b. "The Lord knoweth them that are His."
             c. "Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
         2. Let us remember these 3 great lessons as we conclude 2025 and look forward to 2026.
