God's People Are to Be Faithful
(Hebrews 10:23)

Introduction:

         1. This morning we showed from 1 Corinthians 10:13 that "God is faithful" [He is reliable, dependable,
             and trustworthy].
         2. This evening we are turning our attention to the fact that "God's people are to be faithful" [we are to
             be reliable, dependable, and trustworthy].
         3. In Hebrews 10:23 the appeal for God's people to be faithful is based on His faithfulness.
         4. Let us begin by showing how . . .

Discussion:

I.           THE  BIBLE  STRESSES  THE  NECESSITY  OF  FAITHFULNESS

         A. Matthew 10:22
         B. (Matthew 24:44-47) When Jesus returns, His faithful servants will be blessed.
         C. In Matthew 25 the necessity of faithfulness is also seen in:
             1. the reward of the 5-talent man (vs.21)
             2. the reward of the 2-talent man (vs.23)
             3. the punishment of the 1-talent man (vs.29-30).
         D. 1 Corinthians 4:2
         E. Revelation 2:10

II.          THE  BIBLE  ALSO  WARNS  AGAINST  UNFAITHFULNESS  (Hebrews 3:12)

III.         SINCE  FAITHFULNESS  IS  SO  IMPORTANT,  LET  US  CONSTANTLY STRIVE  TO  GROW
             IN  OUR  FAITHFULNESS  TO  GOD

         A. Let us make up our minds that we are going to be faithful (Proverbs 23:7).
         B. Let us pray and ask the Lord to help us (Matthew 21:22).
         C. Let us study and meditate upon God's Word regularly (Romans 10:17).
         D. Let us obey the Lord's will (James 2:17-18).
         E. Let us put God's kingdom and His righteousness first in our lives (Matthew 6:33).
         F. Let us always remember that God is faithful (Psalm 119:90).

Conclusion:

         1. (Hebrews 10:23a) We are exhorted to "hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering."
         2. (Hebrews 10:23b) One reason why we must do this is because "He [God] is faithful that promised."
