1. According to Ephesians 4:5, there is "one faith." 2. This morning we examined a number of: a. passages that identify "the faith" as the Gospel [the message revealed by the Lord] b. instructions that relate to "the faith." 3. This evening we are studying a number of warnings given in the Bible concerning "the faith."
Discussion:
I. (Acts 13:6-12) WE MUST NOT ALLOW ANYONE TO "TURN US AWAY FROM THE FAITH"
II. (1 Timothy 4:1) WE MUST NOT "DEPART FROM THE FAITH" BY EMBRACING FALSE DOCTRINES
III. (1 Timothy 5:8) WE MUST NOT "DENY THE FAITH" BY FAILING TO FULFILL OUR DOMESTIC RESPONSIBILITIES
IV. (1 Timothy 6:10) WE MUST NOT ALLOW COVETOUSNESS TO CAUSE US TO "ERR FROM THE FAITH"
V. (1 Timothy 6:20-21) WE MUST NOT ALLOW FALSE TEACHING TO CAUSE US TO "ERR FROM THE FAITH"
VI. (2 Timothy 3:1-8) WE MUST NOT BECOME "REPROBATE CONCERNING THE FAITH" BY RESISTING THE TRUTH
VII. (Titus 1:12-14) WE MUST NOT GIVE HEED TO ANYTHING THAT WILL PREVENT US FROM BEING "SOUND IN THE FAITH"
Conclusion:
1. On the basis of these warnings, let us avoid: a. reading literature that is not true to "the one faith" b. listening to anyone who does not adhere to "the one faith" [by radio, TV, or in person]. 2. An eternal home in heaven will only be given to those who "keep the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
