Instructions for Converts
(1 Corinthians 16:13-14)

Introduction:

         1. This morning we presented some information about conversion from the Corinthians.
         2. This evening we are covering 5 instructions for converts found in these verses.

Discussion:

I.           FIRST,  "WATCH  YE"

         A. Watch: to be cautious, to be alert (1 Thessalonians 5:6)
         B. All Christians are to be alert concerning:
             1. the Lord's return (Matthew 25:13)
             2. the activities of the devil (1 Peter 5:8).

II.          SECOND,  "STAND  FAST  IN  THE  FAITH"

         A. Stand fast: to persevere, to stand firm in maintaining one's relationship with the Lord (Galatians 5:1)
         B. Christians are to be united in standing fast in the faith (Philippians 1:27-28a).

III.         THIRD,  "QUIT  YOU  LIKE  MEN"

         A. This is an admonition for Christians to be brave (2 Timothy 1:7).
         B. To be victorious we must be brave (1 Samuel 4:9-10a).

IV.         FOURTH,  "BE  STRONG"

         A. This is another admonition for Christians to demonstrate bravery.
         B. See Ephesians 6:10-13.

V.          FIFTH,  "LET  ALL  YOUR  THINGS  BE  DONE  WITH  CHARITY"

         A. A failure to do everything with love had gotten the Corinthians into trouble.
         B. (1 Corinthians 13) We must do everything with love because:
             1. without love we are nothing (vs.1-3)
             2. love conducts itself properly (vs.4-7)
             3. love never fails (vs.8a).
         C. We must do everything with love to show others that we are the Lord's true disciples (John 13:34-35).

Conclusion:

         1. As converted people, it is essential for us to practice these instructions.
         2. These important instructions are designed to help us:
             a. stay on guard against our enemy, Satan
             b. remain faithful to Christ, our Savior.
         3. Are you practicing these instructions?
