1. In our lesson we are concentrating on a very important point made in these verses -- "God is the Creator." 2. Let us first determine . . . Discussion: I. WHY ISAIAH REMINDED HIS PEOPLE THAT GOD IS THE CREATOR
A. The spiritual condition of Judah is revealed in Isaiah 1:1-4. B. When Hezekiah was king, Isaiah showed him that Babylon would take Judah into captivity (Isaiah 39:5-7). C. Jeremiah later revealed that this captivity would last 70 years (Jeremiah 29:10). D. Isaiah recorded information that would help his people during the captivity. E. In the verses we read earlier, Isaiah emphasized the fact that "God is the Creator." F. As the Creator, God blesses His people with strength and power. G. These blessings from God would sustain the Jews while they waited for the captivity to end. H. Perhaps this will help us understand why we need to be reminded that "God is the Creator." I. While we go through periods of uncertainty, let us always remember that God is the Creator, and He gives strength and power to those who wait upon Him. II. THE SCRIPTURES EMPHASIZE THE FACT THAT GOD IS THE CREATOR
A. Several passages refer to God as "Creator." 1. We have seen that God is called "the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth" (Isaiah 40:28). 2. In 1 Peter 4:19 God is called "a faithful Creator." B. God's creative power is declared in Genesis 1:1. C. The details of God's Creation are revealed in Genesis 1:3-31. 1. Day 1: God created light (vs.3-5). 2. Day 2: God created the firmament (vs.6-8). 3. Day 3: God created the seas, dry land, and plant life (vs.9-13). 4. Day 4: God created the sun, the moon, and the stars (vs.14-19). 5. Day 5: God created birds and marine life (vs.20-23). 6. Day 6: God created land animals and man (vs.24-31). D. Faith enables us to understand how God created everything (Hebrews 11:3; Romans 10:17). E. In Psalm 19:1-6 David presented evidence to show that "God is the Creator." F. Because He is the Creator, God deserves our praise (Psalm 148:1-5). III. THE SCRIPTURES EMPHASIZE THE FACT THAT GOD CREATED MAN
A. God is referred to as man's Creator in Ecclesiastes 12:1. B. The details of God's creation of man and woman are in Genesis 2:7, 18-24. C. Jesus endorsed the Genesis account of man's creation (Mark 10:6). D. Because He created man, God deserves our praise (Psalm 139:13-16). Conclusion:
1. While the people of Judah waited for the captivity to end, they needed to remember that "God is the Creator." 2. This would help them to remain faithful to God while they were in Babylon. 3. While we wait for the Lord to return, we need to remember that "God is the Creator." 4. As Creator, God blesses those who wait upon Him with strength and power. 5. These blessings will help us to remain faithful to Him (Revelation 2:10).
