Blessed Be God As Creator
(Revelation 4:8-11)

Introduction:

         1. In this chapter John saw God on His throne, surrounded by 24 elders and 4 beasts.
         2. Although the elders and the beasts differed in their appearance, they had something in common -- they
             all blessed God.
             a. (vs.8) The 4 beasts blessed God for His holiness and His eternal existence.
             b. (vs.10-11) The 24 elders blessed God for His eternal existence and for being the Creator.
         3. This morning we studied 3 passages that contain the expression, "Blessed be God."
         4. This evening our lesson is based on the blessing given by the 24 elders -- "Blessed be God as Creator."
         5. Let us begin by showing how . . .

Discussion:

I.           THE  SCRIPTURES  EMPHASIZE  THE  FACT  THAT  GOD  IS  THE  CREATOR

         A. Several passages refer to God as "Creator."
             1. (Isaiah 40:28) He is called "the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth."
             2. (1 Peter 4:19) He is called "a faithful Creator."
         B. God's creative power is declared in Genesis 1:1.
         C. The details of God's Creation are revealed in Genesis 1:3-31.
             1. Day 1: God created light (vs.3-5).
             2. Day 2: God created the firmament (vs.6-8).
             3. Day 3: God created the seas, dry land, and plant life (vs.9-13).
             4. Day 4: God created the sun, the moon, and the stars (vs.14-19).
             5. Day 5: God created birds and marine life (vs.20-23).
             6. Day 6: God created land animals and man (vs.24-31).
         D. Faith enables us to understand how God created everything (Hebrews 11:3; Romans 10:17).
         E. In Psalm 19:1-6 David presented evidence to show that God is Creator.

II.          THE  SCRIPTURES  EMPHASIZE  THE  FACT  THAT  GOD  CREATED  MAN

         A. God is referred to as man's Creator in Ecclesiastes 12:1.
         B. The details of God's creation of Adam and Eve are given in Genesis 2:7, 18-24.
         C. Jesus endorsed the Genesis account of man's creation (Mark 10:6).

Conclusion:

         1. Our study has shown that God deserves to be blessed because of:
             a. His Creation (Psalm 148:1-5)
             b. His creation of man (Psalm 139:13-16).
         2. Let us take the time to reflect upon the fact that God is our Creator and bless Him accordingly.
