1. This morning we studied passages from the Lord's word that teach the truth about Jesus' birth. 2. These verses (Hebrews 2:14-18) help us understand why Jesus came to earth as a man -- He suffered so He could be our High Priest. 3. In our lesson we are pointing out 10 ways from the Gospel of John in which "Jesus suffered as a man." Discussion: I. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "WEARINESS" (John 4:3-6) II. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "DOUBT AND UNBELIEF FROM HIS FAMILY" (John 7:3-5) III. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "SARCASM" (John 8:48, 52a) IV. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "REJECTION" BY:
A. His disciples (John 6:66) B. His countrymen (John 8:59). V. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "GRIEF" (John 11:32-36) VI. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "BETRAYAL" (John 18:2-5) VII. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "UNJUST TREATMENT" (John 19:1-3) VIII. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "CARE AND CONCERN FOR HIS MOTHER" (John 19:25-27) IX. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "PHYSICAL NEEDS" (John 19:28-29) X. AS A MAN JESUS SUFFERED "DEATH" (John 19:30; Hebrews 2:14-15) Conclusion:
1. The Gospels reveal many more ways in which Jesus suffered as a man. 2. The Lord faced all of His suffering "without sin" (Hebrews 4:15). 3. He is certainly qualified to serve as our merciful and faithful High Priest. 4. Let us comply with the admonition given in Hebrews 4:16.
