A.Let us be reminded of the instructions given in Philippians 4:4-8. B.As we consider these instructions, let us take the approach that we will do these things through the Lord. 1.(vs.4) Through Christ, we will "rejoice always." 2.(vs.5) Through Christ, we will practice "moderation" [forbearance] with everyone. 3.(vs.6-7) Through Christ, we will overcome "anxiety." a.The key to overcoming anxiety is given in vs.6b. b.The blessing associated with overcoming anxiety is given in vs.7. 4.(vs.8) Through Christ, we will think on the right things (Proverbs 23:7a). C.There are many other things that the Lord wants us to do through Him, but practicing these 4 activities will help us as we look forward to serving Him throughout our 5th year.
Conclusion:
1.Before we can do all things through Christ, we must get into Him. 2.In Acts 16 we are shown how several people in Philippi got into Christ. a.(vs.14-15) Lydia and her household were saved. b.(vs.29-34) The jailer and his household were saved. 3.After a person gets into Christ he has the assurance that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
